How to Get Water & Fluxite in Sandustry
Water is the second half of the gold recipe, and on dry or flood seeds it becomes the real puzzle. Fluxite is the purple material you'll eventually need for advanced tech. This guide covers the community-confirmed ways to never run out of water, plus how to find and use Fluxite.
Pixel physics is the rulebook. The official line is that "ice melts, water becomes steam, fire spreads" VERIFIED — heat and phase changes are a core system, and a small change can ripple through an entire production chain.
Three Paths to Infinite Water
All three are community-confirmed COMMUNITY:
Path 1: Artifact → earthquake → spring
Find an artifact that triggers an earthquake, and a permanent spring appears on the map — a one-time fix that solves your water supply forever COMMUNITY.
Path 2: Steam → condensation loop
Water boils into steam; steam rises and condenses back into water. Build a closed loop that captures the condensation and you get a stable, spring-free water supply VERIFIED (the phase change is official) + COMMUNITY (the loop design).
Path 3: Cinder burner byproduct
The Cinder burner produces water as a byproduct while it runs COMMUNITY. Integrate burning with water handling and the byproduct feeds straight into your wet-sand system — ideal once you're in the smelting stage and the factory already has a heat source.
Wet-Spore Density Sorting
Wet spores carry water-density properties: place a launcher at the top of a 1-block-wide channel and use the density difference to auto-sort them — a key detail for spore handling single-source (deep-dive guide).
Water's First Big Sink: Irrigation & Flowers
Your first real water drain is irrigation — building an irrigation system and using Planter Boxes to grow flowers is a core first-hour water scenario VERIFIED (tied to the First Bloom achievement). Plan your water budget around it before you scale sifting.
Finding & Using Fluxite
Fluxite is the purple material needed for later tech. It's found deeper than the starting strata and upgrades your capabilities once refined single-source. Treat your first Fluxite cache as a milestone, not a daily resource — it gates progression more than it feeds production.
EA vs Demo: water mechanics are consistent between the Demo and EA builds, but the heat system was reworked — old "pour lava in the filter to self-ignite" tutorials no longer work. See the EA vs Demo guide before trusting a Demo-era heat tutorial.
