Sandustry Roadmap: What Happens in This EA Year
Buying an Early Access game is essentially buying a "development promise." Sandustry's official EA FAQ writes that promise out clearly ✅ VERIFIED: EA is expected to last about a year, and 1.0 is planned to add more buildings, resources, production chains, quests, biomes, and tech. This page gathers the official promises, the version history, and the "buy now or wait" decision basis.
Official EA Plan (FAQ Highlights)
| Question | Official answer |
|---|---|
| How long is EA? | About a year ✅ VERIFIED |
| What does 1.0 add? | More buildings, resources, production chains, quests, biomes, tech ✅ VERIFIED |
| Will price change? | Price may rise during EA — buying now is likely the floor ✅ VERIFIED |
| Feedback channels? | Dev actively collects feedback on the official Discord and Steam forums ✅ VERIFIED |
Two words stand out — "production chains" and "biomes." The former means longer multi-stage processing than today (the Synthesizer at the tech-tree top may just be the start; current state in Tech Tree & Recipes); the latter means a more layered world — today's Sunsand, Frostbed, and other region materials will likely each expand into a full ecosystem (current materials in Materials Index).
Version History: Two Weeks of Dev Speed
The best measure of EA sincerity isn't promises, it's post-launch action:
| Build | Contents | Source |
|---|---|---|
| v0.5.3 (hotfix) | Crash-log system, steam/rain memory fix, factory-tier objective hints, GPU-overlay launch option | ✅ VERIFIED |
| v0.5.4 (hotfix) | Further hotfixes | 🔶 COMMUNITY (community source; details per patch notes) |
Each of v0.5.3's four items has weight: the crash-log system lets player feedback pinpoint problems directly; the steam/rain memory fix solved ecosystem water-cycle stability (water-cycle principles in Materials Index); factory-tier objective hints answer the biggest complaint, "weak mid-to-late guidance"; the GPU-overlay launch option helps players with compatibility issues. Full v0.5.3 troubleshooting is in v0.5.3 Update & Fixes.
Two hotfixes in two weeks, each traceable to a community-feedback thread — this is the best state of the "solo dev + active community" model. On the dev team background, see About Lantto Games.
